The day was
warm and sunny and void of bugs – great for Orienteering. Bruce Glen
designed and set the four courses which offered a good challenge for those on
the two advanced courses and just the right degree of difficulty on the
Intermediate and Novice circuits.
There were a little over 100 participants.
About one-quarter were children – ranging from tiny tots to young ‘teens – most
of them accompanying their parents and mainly on the easiest course. Judging
from the aire of enthusiasm at the Finish everyone
had an enjoy-able time.
At our previous meet it was reported that
member, Eric Lillie, had run from his home in Baie d’Urfé to the DDO meet site,
and had then completed our 1/3 Marathon Maze in a creditable time. This time it
was Stephen Novosad who got an extra measure of work-out by cycling from
his home in Val David to the Park … and back again. He also had the second
fastest time on the Long Course.
Here in brief are the ‘heroes’ of the day.
Francis Falardeau finished the Advanced-Long (7.4 km) course in
0:54:49. Stephen Novosad was 1:07:31
and Thomas Kneubühler took 3rd place in 1:09:02.
On the #3 Short-Advanced (5.0 km)
the three leaders were: Alexandre Provost, 0:43:00; Bert Waslander,
0:56:11; and David Glen, 1:06:04. Fastest woman was Jessica Auer
(1:49:47)
