Street & Mini-park Orienteering-Maze, April 22

I hadn’t anticipated that the turnout would be as large as it was. Perhaps it was due to this being our Spring season “opener”; or maybe because of that CBC-Television broadcast two days earlier; or just a Spring longing to run with a map again. In any case, we were pleased with the number of both new and familiar faces who came.

In total there was about 120 participants, plus some youngsters in family groups.  Included were 24 John Abbott College students brought by Phys Ed Dept. head, Karen Oljemark.  Also, a half dozen Venture Scouts tried our sport for the first time and completed Course 3.

Congratulations to all who ran, walked or limped to complete their course.
A warm welcome to all the new participants who took part.
Thank you to those who helped with the meet, especially Gloria (Registration) and Bruce and Elaine for assisting with control pick-ups after the event.

Thanks also to Keith Malette, head of Sports & Recreation for DDO, for making the Terry Fox Park chalet available to us for the day.  And, finally, to the unknown lady who donated a lot of hot coffee for our consumption!

John
